Psychotherapist | CERTIFIED HEALTH COACH
Owner of Live in Balance
Believe you're meant to live a life full of harmony, happiness and health. Believe getting older doesn't have to mean getting slower, stiffer, and sicker. Believe being a Mother (or Father) doesn't have to mean losing yourself.
I work with overworked professional moms struggling with digestive issues, and a general sense of disharmony or unease in their lives. They know there is more for them, but don't know exactly how to access it. I show my clients how to elevate their self-esteem by loving and caring for themselves - above all else. With this support they get their health on track, so they can dedicate time and energy to what is most meaningful for them. I guide women, and some men, to uncover their passions, and empower themselves. I support them in finding their truth so that they can live the life they were born to live.
My health journey started over 20 years ago. I would find myself doubled over after a meal in so much pain, but it took me a long time to realize that what I ate was wreaking havoc on my gut. Once I made the connection, I slowly cut out fast food and soda. My symptoms improved, but I still didn’t feel great. Eventually, I cut out gluten and processed foods, and started eating WAY more vegetables. I felt even better, but knew it was just the beginning. The journey to wholly heal my body led me to many modalities: massage (over 1000 hours and Certification through the Massage Institute of Colorado), psychotherapy (MA in Humanistic Psychology from Michigan School of Professional Psychology, 2 year certification in Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute, and over 6 years of personal psychoanalysis), health coaching (Certified with the AADP through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition), and more.
However even after years of improvement, I still suffered from seasonal allergies and periodic digestive issues as well as low energy and fatigue. That’s when I discovered detoxing and everything changed! I really began to see the impact of certain foods on my mind and body. By eliminating them for a period of time, I really gained some clarity on why I was eating them, and the effects they had on me. My seasonal allergy symptoms disappeared, my digestive upset became non-existent, my skin glowed, I dropped extra weight, and my energy remained strong and consistent all day long! I even found it much easier to manage my emotions, and mood. To feel pleasant and productive for days, even weeks, at a time. Finally, I found the fundamental tools for battling so many of my troubles; I knew that I had to share my knowledge with others.
In addition to receiving my Master's in Clinical and Humanistic Psychology, a 2-year Certification in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and undergoing over 6 years of psychoanalysis personally, I also graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories; everything from Ayurveda, gluten-free, and Paleo, to raw, vegan, and macrobiotics, and everything in between.
My background is in psychotherapy and bodywork. I highly value working with the whole person - body, mind and soul. I use all of my training to work with the individual where he or she is.
My education has equipped me with extensive, cutting-edge knowledge in trauma release, holistic nutrition, health coaching, prevention, and recovery. Drawing on my expertise, I work with clients like you to create mindset shifts that lead to healthier habits, and transformative, lasting results. You will develop a deeper understanding of food and lifestyle choices that work best for you, improving your energy, balance, health, and happiness.
Each session will leave you feeling inspired and motivated. We will talk about things beyond food, seeking to bring balance to important elements of your life such as love and relationship as well as career and money. The Integrative Nutrition Plate emphasizes the importance of local and organic produce, whole grains, high-quality proteins, plant-based fats, and water. It shows you how a plate should appear at mealtime and emphasizes the importance of proportions and portion size. To complete the picture, the plate is surrounded with lifestyle factors that create optimal health: relationship, career, physical activity and spirituality. I’ll introduce you to some of the healthiest foods on the planet and teach you how to find what’s healthiest for your unique body!
It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.
The concept of bio-individuality is the idea that each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and ancestral background.
Many nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat, which explains why so many people are turned off by nutrition. My approach is different – by eating and drinking foods that are good for you, you will naturally have less room and desire for unhealthy foods. Simply put, you will “crowd out” the unhealthy food in your diet. This takes a little practice to make happen, but I will support you all the way.
Cravings play a critical role in understanding what your body needs and they shouldn’t be ignored. When you learn how to deconstruct your cravings and understand what they’re really telling you, you will be able to reclaim a sense of balance and harmony.
