How to Know You're Ready for a Sugar Detox (& 6 reasons to Start Today!)

The word detox gets a bad reputation but it’s actually very beneficial for our health — inside and out. Our bodies are supposed to do it naturally. In today’s world though, chemicals and toxins are relentless. Present in almost everything we wear, eat, apply and buy, these harmful additives can put our bodies through a lot of stress, even when we’re mindful to avoid them.

That’s why sometimes I need a little radiance revival, and I’m not afraid to admit it. Committing to better health doesn’t have to be overwhelming or rigid. Detox can be about liberation, not deprivation.

By stripping our diet down to the essentials for even two to three days we promote our natural detoxification processes, giving our liver and kidneys a chance to do their job with maximum efficiency. This simplification gives your body the time and energy it needs to “reboot” its’ systems so to speak.

Rather than rules and limitations, the focus of this article (& my work) is on supporting you to slow down and mindfully fuel your being with delicious foods and experiences that nourish your soul.

Some factors or signals that indicate the need for sugar detox are:

If you’re experiencing any of the above mentioned things, your body could be telling you it’s time to take a break from sugar. I’m not promising it will be easy, but I can assure you it will be worth it. Be patient and consistent in your efforts, and take the journey day by day.



Another prominent perk of a sugar detox is the increase in energy. You will feel more energized and active. You will have more stamina which will enable you to spend more time in your workouts. You will eliminated the fatigue that is often caused by over-consumption of sugary foods.

The refined sugar dissolves more quickly in the bloodstream and gives you a quick jolt of energy but quickly leaves your body to crave for more. On the other hand, the high protein foods take more time to digest and keep your body energized longer. Therefore, saying no to sugar and relying on healthier options instead will make you stronger.


Want to avoid cardiovascular diseases? Stay away from sugar. Quitting sugar has a positive impact on your heart. Those who consume less sugar have lower risks of heart diseases while people with excessive consumption of sugar have more chances of developing heart diseases.


Experts often show a link between sugar and type 2 diabetes. Thus, avoiding sugar lowers the chances of this deadly disease. Additionally, it lowers the risk of obesity that leads to diabetes.
