7 Ways to Love Your Liver & Why

Your liver is, without a doubt, is one of the most important organs in your body. Of its many essential functions, the most critical one is the breakdown and removal of harmful products and toxins. Because the liver is constantly working to remove toxins, it is easy for the liver to get toxic.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Spring is the best time to detoxify the body—especially the liver. The main reason is nature supports cleansing and renewal during the spring season. As spring approaches, most people will notice a marked change in their sleep and eating habits, as well as energy levels, mood, and even their senses. As these changes take place, the body’s organs are also ripe for change, so any efforts to detox the liver are enhanced.

While there are many methods, programs and products designed to support you to detox your liver, I offer the following recommendations because they are simple yet effective:

7 WAYS TO LOVE YOUR LIVER

ADD GREEN VEGETABLE JUICES TO YOUR DAILY DIET

Green vegetables and juices are beneficial because of the chlorophyll present in them. Chlorophyll is an important protein compound that acts as a cell simulator, rejuvenator, cleanser, internal healer, antiseptic, and so much more.  You can buy Chlorophyll on Amazon [www.amazon.com]. Add 1 tablespoon of chlorophyll to your water daily or make a Green Juice from the Sweeten Your Life eBook.

INCREASE THE INTAKE OF VITAMIN C

Vitamin C helps protect organs like your liver from toxins and free radicals. Increasing Vitamin C intake can go a long way in protecting your liver. Citrus is a popular source of vitamin C. Camu Camu is also a natural vitamin C source and a superfood; it can be bought online.

CONSUME FOODS RICH IN POTASSIUM

Potassium is important for maintaining a healthy cardiovascular system, as well as healthy cholesterol and blood pressure. Consume foods rich in potassium, bananas, sweet potato, spinach, and coconut water.

CONSUME FOODS RICH IN IRON

Iron is also a key nutrient in the development of red blood cells, which are important for transporting oxygen in the body. The liver stores excess iron and is responsible for determining how much iron to release into the body. Increase foods rich in iron while on a liver cleanse, like nettle tea, spinach, and beets. DRINK DETOX WATER

Detox water, such as water with lemon, blueberries, and mint, helps in cleansing the liver by promoting the release of toxins.

CLEANSE WITH DIGESTIVE ENZYMES

Digestive enzymes are effective in liver cleansing by reducing the toxic build up in the organ. Include them in your diet and take them with meals. My favorite brand is Houston Enzymes and can be bought on Amazon, or speak to someone at your local health foods store.

COMMIT TO SELF-CARE

You, just like your liver, needs love, attention and rest. Try incorporating some holistic rituals such as mediation, skin brushing, Epsom salt baths, castor oil packs and journaling to support your liver to cleanse, help you feel great and banish those cravings.

Try incorporating 2-3 of these recommendations into the next few days.
