Easy Stress-Relieving Breath

Breath is one of the most useful tools we have to settle our mind and relieve stress.  This breathing technique is powerful, and really quite simple; it’s accessible to anyone, anywhere, any time.

Called the Square Breath, it happens just the way it sounds. This 4-part breath happens in 4 counts of 4.  Simple right? Okay, now before you officially start, take a really deep breath in and release it. Repeat a few times to clear your mind.

When You’re Ready to Begin

Seal your lips.

Breathe in through your nose for 4 counts,

hold the inhale for 4 counts,

exhale through your nose for 4 counts,

then hold the exhale of 4 counts.

That's one round. In as few as five rounds you can completely transform your experience, promoting feelings of peace and well-being in your body and mind. Try it out!

*If you find this feels ‘too easy’ or has little effect on your state,  try it to 4 counts of 8.

Especially around holiday time, simple tricks like this breathing technique can be a lifesaver.
